Welcome to the Chair for Communication Technology

Together with leading industrial partners, University partners including the framework of several national and international R&D projects the researchers, PhD candidates, and students focus the research activities on

Wireless Internet and Pervasive Computing

The main emphasis is on both innovative applications as well as protocol integration of wireless and internet technologies.

Innovative applications cover ambient intelligence and context awareness using technologies such as XML, ontologies, java based middleware, sensors, and up-to date mobile devices.

Protocol integration covers the MAC layer especially Dynamic Channel Allocation (DCA), Multistandard Radio Resource Management (MxRRM) as well as the networking layer for QoS, and mobility.

These research activities are backed-up by and feeding into a four semester coure on communication technologies covering fundamentals of communications, networking, applications up to latest developments in pervasive computing (service discovery, component models, …), the internet (like IPv6, mobile IP, SIP ...) and in cellular networks (especially GSM 2++, WAP, bluetooth, WLAN and UMTS).

In addition, focused and advanced lectures, such as security, distributed systems, and practical work, sponsored by CISCO and T-Mobile, as well as special training seminars for industry are on offer.
