NASA Glenn Research Center was responsible for the development, management, and operation of ACTS as part of a long legacy of experimental communications satellites.
On Wednesday, April 28, 2004, the NASA Advanced Communications Technology Satellite (ACTS) was permanently shut down. It is electrically inert at this time. It will remain at 105 in an inclined geosynchronous orbit indefinitely.
